Laptop Security

During Exams - If your laptop is not needed during an exam, leave it at home.  If you have to bring it to the exam room, leave it directly under your chair. Do not leave it at the front of the room. It is too easy for someone to come to the exam without a laptop bag and walk out with one because the laptop bags all look the same.

In the Bookstore - Don’t leave it on the racks you see when you first enter the bookstore.  Take your laptop out of the backpack and carry it with you.  For the same reason you wouldn’t leave it with hundreds of other bags at the front of the class during exams, you don’t want to leave it on a rack when you are going to be out of sight of it.

In Study Halls – Would you leave your wallet on a table in a study hall and go downstairs or down the hall for a drink?  I think we all agree the answer is no.  Think of your laptop the same way as your wallet.  Don’t leave it anywhere unattended.

Laptop Security During Exams

All students should be aware of the process for dealing with their laptops during exams.

Although students are being asked to arrive at their exams without their laptops, those who do bring them will be allowed to put them under their desks to reduce the likelihood of theft.

DO NOT leave your laptop anywhere else.  Faculty and exam invigilators have been made aware of this process.
