NOTES Related to fee and refund schedule

1. Laptops must be returned to the IT Support Centre by the return date indicated on your student laptop agreement or as indicated on campus posted return dates. Any laptop returned after the contract date is subject to a $25.00 per day late charge.

2. Component replacement charges are applicable on all lost, stolen or misused peripheral devices. A component price list is available from the IT Support Centre. Charges for component replacement are applied to your student account.

** There is an insurance deductible fee charged on a one-time only claim when a student reports his/her computer lost, stolen or as the result of misuse. Students are solely responsible for any loss of or damage to the computer supplied to them, reasonable wear and tear excepted. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that any damage to the computer is brought to the attention of the Mobile Computing Centre immediately, and that any damage is repaired only by our on-site technicians. Students are responsible for immediately reporting a lost or stolen computer to the Mobile Computing Centre, Campus Security and Durham Regional Police, who will investigate the incident.

Your Mobile Learning Fee is Tax Deductible

The Mobile Learning Fee qualifies for inclusion in your Tuition and Education Amounts Certificate (T2202A) to be filed with your annual Tax Return. Typically this results in a significant saving of over $300 towards the cost of the Mobile Program. Check the ITS web site for specific instructions on how to obtain your certificate.

Laptop Buy Out Option

Upon completion of your studies at UOIT graduating students have the option to purchase surplus laptops that have reached the end of their service cycle. The residual value of these units will be determined at the time of purchase. Please note that these laptops cannot be connected to the campus network for program purposes. Full details are posted within the IT Support Centre and are available on our website closer to the end of each academic year.

Financial Deferment

Financial deferment of the Mobile Learning Program fee is not available to students except in cases where proof of OSAP funding specifically covers the cost of the Mobile Learning Program Fee.

Laptop Availability During Summer Months
